Ian is an awesome coach that took the time to understand my busy schedule to produce a bespoke programme that totally meets the aims for what I wanted to achieve.
He provides clear guidance with a much-welcomed touch of humour and, most importantly, he is honest and realistic – typical all round decent guy.
Wholeheartedly would recommend him to anyone seeking out a running coach.

Ian works with people from the front of the pack to those of us towards the back with the same commitment and support to help people achieve their personal goals. In the time I’ve been with Ian I have taken 10-15% off all my PBs and run race distances I never thought possible (Lakeland 50 anyone?). I think I’d have long thrown in the towel or nursed recurring injury if it wasn’t for his plans, ears and encouragement. Ian isn’t just a coach, he is a walking encyclopedia of running knowledge…..from mental resilience to silly feet, he pretty much has read the book or done the course. Coaching is his trade and he’s bloody good at it.

Couch to 5K…to 10K, even a Half Marathon! Coach Ian has helped me achieve so many goals, thanks to him, my medal holder (which was gathering dust before he started coaching me) is a lot heavier. 😊
His training plans are perfect for me as a busy Mum with a full time job and other commitments. He is realistic, understanding, assertive and wants what’s best for you and his team, whilst pushing you to achieve your goals! What more can you ask for from a Coach? I have a lot to thank him for, he’s done my health and mental well-being the world of good. Thanks Coach.

Ian took me on last year after I decided to make a return to running. I started running at an early age completing my first half marathon at the age of 10 (before they started putting age restrictions on them!!!!). When I returned to running I was finding it hard and almost was about to give up and go back to my MAMIL lifestyle (look it up), when a friend mentioned he had Ian as a coach and highly rcomended him. Now, here comes the rub!!!! I work mostly off shore and spend many weeks/months away from real country running. I also wanted to improve in Ultra Marathons. Not very a conducive environment for running when you’re on a rig!!!!None of this fazed Ian and he’s tailor made my run training around my schedule. There aren’t many coaches who’ll do that. He’s fair and understands that sometimes I can’t achieve my training schedule due to work and family commitments. However, I’ve improved vastly since having Ian by my side. My PB’s are coming thick and fast and he’s a whisper of encouragement when you need it. I highly recommend Ian if you want to run better, faster, stronger.

I’ve been coached by Ian for a number of years. I have definitely seen myself become a stronger athlete and my overall fitness has improved immensely. Ian has coached me to podium standard at a number of races in various disciplines (road, XC, fell, ultras) and helped me achieve some personal goals such as completing a Bob Graham Round and Paddy Buckley Round. He’s provided realistic plans I can use to fit in around a busy family life and full time work. They incorporate everything I need to maintain fitness and build endurance for my events. Ian has also adapted plans to help me recover from illness safely and he’s helped me understand the importance of rest and recovery and cross training.
Ian works in a holistic way so he also understands that every client is different and will have different goals. I have also accessed additional support from him leading up to big races, through face to face sessions, working through race plans and logistics. He’s helped me manage race nerves and given me advice and resources around techniques to manage this.
I highly recommend New Limits Run Coaching. Ian is a great guy and a talented experienced athlete in his own right. He also has a never-ending bag of terrible jokes.
I look forward to continuing to be part of the New Limits Run Coaching family.
